Kaka Poster

I shall be getting a poster of Brazilian/Real Madrid soccer player Ricardo Kaka for my dorm room this fall. I'm not sure exactly which poster to get, although I think that the one pictured above is quite nice! I'm not exactly sure when I'll be able to get this since I am currently in a lot of debt, but I will definitely put it at the top of my wishlist for when I actually have money to spend. He has "a very nice touch" as those soccer commentators would say and I say that he has a very nice look about him as well. I hope that my roommate isn't planning on putting up anything too much on the wall because alongside my lovely Kaka poster will be my Audrey Hepburn poster. Ahhhh, I can't wait until fall semester! :)
5 Reasons to start watching the World Cup if you have not already:
  1. The US has been very dramatic in its playing style so far. If we are able to continue on I can promise that our team will keep it very entertaining for us.
  2. Patriotism! How can you not support our team?!
  3. You can learn more about a sport that has been relatively forgotten in our nation. It's a great sport with tons of history! Plus, there are no commercials during the games (unlike American "football").
  4. Kaka is playing in the World Cup, along with lots of other yummy footballers!
  5. You'll have something to talk about with the other great people who love the game. The sport has a great fanbase that you should be proud to be a part of!
My reasons may be lame and poorly explained, but trust me, it's a great game to watch! You better be tuning in on Saturday at 2:00 PM!!

Solanin is Perfection

I read Solanin a couple of months ago and I loved it! It's one of those few manga that really connects with the reader. The art work is pleasing and matches the vibe of the story very well. I cried, I laughed-blah blah blah. It's better than that though, it truly is. Solanin definitely captures the restlessness of young adulthood and the indecision/fear that goes along with it. If you are somewhere in between your high school graduation and having the perfect job then reading this manga will mean so much to the current frenzy your life is in. But what do I know, really? My outlook on the future is bleak at best and my motivation is nonexistent. Although life can be terrible and miserable, Solanin made me feel a little bit better about it. The next time I have 19 or so dollars to spend I will be buying the book (complete with all volumes) at my nearest Barnes and Noble. On a final note, I saw a preview for the movie adaptation and will watch is as soon as it is available and translated. If only I was fluent in Japanese...

loooove bird

My mom and I went shopping today and we stumbled upon this adorable hair comb. It was $21 at this boutique called Esme. I think it will look nice with my current hairstyle! Unfortunately, I have terrible lighting in my room that does not particularly do justice to the colors of the bird. I'll have to take a better picture of it outside or something. As I was leaving the store I saw the cutest pink shirt. My mom could not be persuaded to buy it :( This has left me with terrible sadness and frustration. I really should have listened to my father and gotten a job a month ago. Oh money, where art thou?!

i have an ever-growing HATE for margins

I bought some bookmark pens over a year ago and I haven't really used them. I hear that if one is intelligent, then one should write in their books. But I don't know what to write! I feel that the blank margins of my books are screaming for attention and all I've got for them are guilty, nervous looks. I almost wish that books were made without those taunting margins, but I understand that their aesthetic appeal is great. However, I will someday/somehow write very witty, thought-provoking comments beside the words I read. The little scribbly notes will be even more profound than the stories and themes themselves. Scholars will even debate about why I put a question mark here or why I circled a word there. How about that, margins? People will borrow my books just so they can worship my pithy opinions of their contents. Ridiculous, no? Maybe I won't write in the margins after all. I shouldn't force an already good relationship I suppose.
